Custom Domain - Database Error/TXT 'asuid' Record Could Not Be Found

I have setup a WordPress App Service, I can browse the site and admin panel using the '*.azurewebsites.net' URL, when attempting to browse I receive a database error 'Error establishing database connection', it is successfully secured with a managed SSL certificate in Azure. When I check the troubleshooting tool in the custom domain section it tells me the the asuid TXT record could not be found. I have checked this record in various DNS propagation tools and they are all showing as successful entry of that record.

This record has been present for a number of hours now and I am still receiving the same error. Can anyone confirm if anything else needs to be done, and also confirm that the database error when browsing via the custom domain is caused by this lack of verification?

    Hi Thomas,

Recently someone else was receiving same error as you, and the solution was to login to WordPress as admin (using *.azurewebsites.net url), navigate to My Sites > Network Admin > Sites, click Add New and create a new site, then modify it to match custom domain URL.

Below is the question for reference:
