Ricoh PCL6 UniversalDriver V4.34 causes weird printing behaviour on Windows Server 2016

Hello all,

I recently encountered an issue with the Ricoh PCL6 UniversalDriver V4.34 that was used by the sessions on Citrix VDA hosts running Windows 2016.
Behaviour was:

  • default printer gets lots or changes
  • printers are disappearing
  • when logging of and on, the printers got back

This issue was solved by downgrading the version of the driver to V4.26. Of course I think other versions would have worked too but I was sure that this version was working.

    Hello,

Here are several reasons for this occurrence:

    • Newer driver versions may be incompatible with systems, applications, or hardware configurations. This can lead to printers disappearing or default printer changes.
    • Newer driver versions can introduce bugs that were not present in older versions.
    • Driver updates can sometimes come with changes to default settings or configurations. If these changes are not well-suited to your environment, they could lead to issues.

    Regards,

    Karlie
