Granting Sharepoint online admin permissions or lower

As part of our move of data to the cloud, users "P" drives along with other data are moving to OneDrive…the back end of this is all Sharepoint. Currently in house Production Access has the rights to move data for users. i.e. John leaves the company (let go, retires, goes on sick leave unexpectedly, etc) and access to their data should go to James. Production access would typically move this data for them. Technical Services is also on call as part of the oncall rotation with Infrastructure Services and may need to get access to data in a hurry.

Right now neither group can go into the Microsoft 365 admin console and get to the link to access the files.

Unfortunately there doesn't appear to be a lesser permission to give these admin folks besides Sharepoint administrator in Azure to get this access. OR is there? Please can someone let me know.

    Hi @Mark Nagas ,

Currently in house Production Access has the rights to move data for users. i.e. John leaves the company (let go, retires, goes on sick leave unexpectedly, etc). You can give James access to the content in the user's OneDrive.

    Here are steps:

    User's image

As far as I know there is no less privilege than Sharepoint administrator role to achieve this.
