Hi,
If you want to purge the avhdx files, just delete the checkpoints from the Checkpoints pane in Hyper-V Manager. This will merge an avhdx file to its parent virtual disk automatically.
To prevent Hyper-V virtual machine from creating checkpoints automatically, select Checkpoints in the virtual machine settings and uncheck "Use automatic checkpoints".
