How often are the Bing Maps API services are updated and how to receive notitifications about extensions and modifications

Hi,

we plan to use the Bing Maps REST services and V8 Web Control to allow access to imagery data and to perform searches.

Are the APIs subject to any release cycles, and if so, how are you informed about enhancements and changes so that you can keep your own solution up-to-date?

Can you clarify what you mean by "searches" against imagery? Our licensing model expressly forbids against deriving information from Bing Maps Imagery (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/maps/product) so we recommend partnering with an imagery provider directly for such use cases. If you want to know who provided our imagery, we give attribution at the bottom corner of the map.

Hi Alexander,

Tiles are not the same as a typical API. The API "Get Imagery Metadata" changes the endpoint to keep pointing to the latest stitched data present. The control handles this for you so there is no need for an update mechanism like you are asking about.

I recommend taking a look at https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/bingmaps/rest-services/directly-accessing-the-bing-maps-tiles and the two pages linked near the bottom of the article to get a better idea of how both regular map tiles and imagery tiles are structured.
