Hello,

I know VMware but Hyper-V is a tricky one I have a system I have inherited. OS is Win server 2019 Std. Hyper mgr. version 10. It has a IDE vhdx drive and 2 SCSI drives one for data for the business and another for archiving.

Question 1: Can I add another vhdx drive as separated share drive via SCSI controller without having to restart the server? Can I just initialize the disk?

Question 2: Can I expand the existing vhdx's on the fly?

Thanks,

DV

    Hi,

    1. SCSI disks support hot-plugging function, that is, you can add or remove virtual disks while the VM is running without restarting the VM. Open Disk Management in the VM to make the newly added disks online.
    2. You can create dynamic virtual hard disks so that the disk size expands automatically.

    Best Regards,
