Has App Service Environment Variable validation changed?

Hello,
We are currently running 4 environments with 8 web apps and 8 app service plans. The environment variables we are using were configured over a year ago and have been working without issue until now. One of the app services was cloned a week ago without issue.
However, as of yesterday (5/23/2024) attempting to clone the app service of a different environment is now giving validation errors for the environment variables
App setting names can only contain letters, numbers (0-9), periods ("."), and underscores ("_")
Is this a new change?
When did it go into effect?
And is it going to begin causing validation issues with our currently running apps that have environment variables like this for example
org:environment_variable=false

2024-05-24T13:12:50.07+00:00 Looks like only Windows App Services support this type of Naming and not Linux App Services.
