Windows 11 RDP No Smartcard Credentials Shown

When attempting to use RDP to connect to another local desktop, after entering the name of the computer and hitting "connect" it prompts for credentials, however there are no credentials shown. A smart card is used to login to the computer and the credentials on the smart card are able to be seen and used when signing documents or logging into other websites and applications, so the problem seems to be exclusive to RDP. The credentials show and work fine using RDP on older desktop / laptop models we have and the problem seems to have recently appeared as it worked fine some days ago.

    Hi, does a root certificate or some work got done into the network ? as please see that document, as it seem your rdp client try to signin with the smartcard certificate. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security/identity-protection/smart-cards/smart-card-and-remote-desktop-services ,

    You could show us the windows it show to you when it connect, as usually it should display the certificate, and your user can select other below it to enter their credential.

    Lastly, a dirty tip, if you deploy the .rdp file is to force the login inside it. try enablecredsspsupport:i:0 and/or redirectsmartcards:i:0 (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/remote/remote-desktop-services/clients/rdp-files)
