How to fix quota exceeded using Notification Hub

Hello,

When I try to register a new device I get 'The maximum number of devices has been reached or exceeded for the namespace.' error. For my PRP environnement I have a free subscription which allows 500 active users. When I check the Azure Portal I can see that I have 206 active registered users of the allowed 500.

I don't understand what limit I exceeded. I am using this Notification Hub for several years and I didn't change anything recently.

Where can I check which limit I exceeded?

Thank you for the help in advance,

Hi @BADDI Mohamed it looks like you may have hit the device registration limit, not the active user limit.

There's a difference between active users and registered devices. Active users are those currently subscribed to receive notifications. Registered devices are all devices that have ever been registered with your Notification Hub, even if they're not currently active.

In the free tier of Azure Notification Hubs, you typically have a limit of around 100 device registrations per hub. This limit is separate from the active user limit. Even if a device is no longer active, its registration still counts towards this limit unless you explicitly delete it.

To check and manage your device registrations:

    1. Go to your Azure Portal.
    2. Navigate to your Notification Hub.
    3. In the left menu, under "Settings", click on "Registration Management".
    4. Here, you can view, search, and delete device registrations.

You have a few options to resolve this issue:

    1. If you have devices that are no longer in use, you can delete their registrations to free up space for new devices.
    2. Instead of creating new registrations for the same device (which can happen if you reinstall the app or reset the device), try to update the existing registration. This way, you're not creating a new registration but modifying an existing one.
    3. If you need more device registrations, consider upgrading to a paid tier that offers a higher limit. The Basic tier, for example, allows up to 200,000 device registrations.

    Hope that helps.

    Best,
