How can I get rid of this annoying "tic-tac" in Excel?

Several of my users are reporting that what looks like a "tic-tac" will show up in their Excel spreadsheets that they cannot close. It looks like a broken dialog box (please see screenshot). Does anyone have a solution for this? The only way currently they are able to close it is to close out the entire spreadsheet.

    Hi @tpoolson_prcsd

Besides, does this issue occur with all workbooks? Or specific workbooks?

    • If they are specific workbook, are there any similarities between them?

Could you please let these users open Excel in Safe mode? Safe Mode can help us troubleshoot the add-ins and startup items.

    • Press Win + R to open Run Dialog, type excel /safe, and click OK.
    • If this issue disappears in safe mode, please click File > Options > Add-ins > Manage COM Add-ins, click Go, clear the check boxes for any enabled COM add-ins, select OK.
