Why does Excel freeze when copying large ranges and how can I fix it?

When attempting to copy a large range, Excel freezes and gradually consumes all available memory (16 GB) over a ten minute period. This issue occurs even in safe mode and repairing Office 365 has not helped. However, when running Excel as administrator, it behaves normally. Any suggestions on what could be causing this issue and how to resolve it would be appreciated.

    Hi @Roger Novak

Via online search, some third-party software may cause problems when using Office. It is recommended to try a clean boot.

Besides, as there is no "Disable Hardware Acceleration" option in Office, I suggest you go to Start> Settings> System> Display> Graphics Settings > Select: Desktop app > Use the Browse button to add Excel.exe > After you’ve added Excel, select: Options > Use the Power Saving GPU: Microsoft Basic Render Driver
