Steps to use Cyber Ark to manage Data Source Credentials with on Prem Power BI report server

Hello,

I am getting mixed results when trying to determine if Power BI report Server can use Cyber ARK PVWA for managing Data Source account passwords. Using PVWA enables Web application to connect to a credential managed Vault to retrieve service account passwords instead of storing the passwords locally. This allows Cyber Ark to automatically update the passwords for better security without the need of an administrator manually updating the password. Power BI on Prem server runs on top of the SSRS engine, so it is hard to research. If someone has been able to do this, please share the steps you took to enable it.

    The real answer to this is "not at all easily".

    The only way I can imagine this working is to create a custom data source. Most of the hard work would then be done in .NET.
