Hacked Microsoft Account

My account was hacked. They changed the personal information as well as the email and recovery email associated with this account. I was able to get in through touch ID on my laptop and request a change of email that was supposed to take place in 30 days. However, they apparently noticed and cancelled the switch. I filled out the recovery form twice as of today, as I didn't get a response the first time. Is there anything else that I can possibly do to get my account back?

    Hello Amy Johnston,

Thank you for posting in Q&A forum.

I'm really sorry to hear that you're dealing with this stressful situation. Here are a few steps you can try to recover your Microsoft account:

1.Contact Microsoft Support Directly: If you can't recover your account through the usual methods, reaching out to Microsoft Support directly can be your best option. Be prepared to provide as much information as possible to prove your identity.

2.Use the Account Recovery Form: Continue filling out the account recovery form. Provide detailed answers to the questions to help Microsoft verify your identity. Mention any past purchase history, frequently used devices, and past passwords.

3.Check Email Rules and Filters: Ensure any suspicious email rules or forwarding settings are not diverting emails from Microsoft to another email account.

4.Security Updates: Change passwords on any other accounts that used the same or similar passwords to prevent further breaches.

5.Monitor Activity: Keep an eye on your account activity for any unauthorized access.

6.Enable Two-Factor Authentication: Once you regain access, enable two-factor authentication (2FA) to add an extra layer of security to your account.

It’s essential to be persistent and provide as much detail as possible during the recovery process.

I hope the information above is helpful.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to let us know.

    Best Regards,

    Daisy Zhou
