Error 304 in Microsoft Entra ID with Student Account - Unable to Change Subscription

I'm currently using Microsoft Entra ID through my university account and have encountered an Error 304 when trying to access it.

Additionally, when attempting to adjust my subscription settings, it says only a global administrator can make these changes even though I’m the owner. Given that my university uses Microsoft 365 and Azure Cloud, I suspect there might be specific permissions or configurations I'm missing. Could anyone provide insights on how to resolve this or guide me on what steps to take next?

Thank you.

    Hi @Ali Ali

Thank you for posting this in Microsoft Q&A.

Have you able to login Microsoft Entra ID with Student Account? Can you please try to login after clearing Browser’s Cache Data or using a private browsing mode.

Microsoft Entra ID Global Admin is a Directory level role, however Global Admin have a privilege to elevate their access to Azure subscription and deployed resources. On other had Owner is an Azure RBAC role specifically to get access to resources deployed within Azure Subscription.

For your reference : Azure roles, Microsoft Entra roles, and classic subscription administrator roles

Could you provide more details about the subscription settings? Please specify which type of subscription settings you are attempting to change and where you are trying to change them. To better understand the issue, could you please provide a screenshot of what you are attempting to do?

Hope this helps. Do let us know if you any further queries.

    Thanks,

    Navya.

    Hello,

Thank you for posting in Q&A forum.

Based on your description, here are some steps and suggestions:

Clear your browser cache and cookies: Sometimes, old session data can cause problems.

Try a different browser: This can help determine if the problem is browser-related.

Use incognito mode: This can bypass some issues caused by cached data and extensions.

Ownership of a subscription does not equate to global administrative permissions required to make certain changes. We recommend that you check your role in the Azure portal.

For more information about Azure roles, Microsoft Entra roles, please refer to the following links: Azure roles, Microsoft Entra roles, and classic subscription administrator roles | Microsoft Learn

I hope the information above is helpful.

    Best Regards,

    Yanhong Liu
