Migrate ER circut, S2S, P2S to VWAN

Hi Experts,

Our customer currently has an ExpressRoute circuit, S2S, and P2S configured and operational. They are planning to implement Azure Virtual WAN and migrate all existing hybrid connections to this new VWAN. Could experts provide guidance on how to migrate these existing hybrid connections to the new VWAN, along with best practices and recommendations?"

You can use the following document as a reference before migrating :

Migrate to Azure Virtual WAN

While there isn't a one stop migration plan that every environment can use, you can consider

First migrating VPN S2S Sites

Then P2S

And finally ExpressRoute users.

In case you have VNETs divided into environments, you can remove the peering from HubVNET and attach it to the vHUB of the vWAN based on

Dev

Test

And Production

First migrating VPN S2S Sites -->

We have to create Create a virtual WAN -> Configure virtual hub settings -> Configure a site-to-site gateway -> Create a site -> Connect the VPN site to a virtual hub -> Connect a VNet to the virtual hub -> Download VPN configuration , once the connection is established between on-prem and VWAN using S2S VPN.

Delete the customer managed S2S VPN configuration & Virtual network Gateway??

ExpressRoute users.

Can we connect the existing Express route circuit to VWAN and once the existing Express route circuit us connected, no modification require on the customer managed ER circuit?

To answer your queries,

To Note

If the VNET itself has a VPN Gateway, you will not be able to use the vHUB's VPN gateway.

So, first, make sure you are able to connect to the Spoke VNET(s) from your OnPrem before deleting the VPN Gateway on the Hub VNET

Then connect the HubVNET to the vHUB.
