How to setup a Hyper-V virtual server to be used for disaster recovery from a backup.

Looking to create a Hyper-V server that can be restored from a back-up in the event of a disaster and can be rerouted until problem is resolved.

You may want to try Hyper-V Replica which provides disaster recovery by replicating virtual machines (VMs) from one Hyper-V host server to another. This ensures that your workloads remain available in case of an outage.

Hey,

Hyper-V Replica will allow you to replicate your VMs from one Hyper-V Server to another. In case of failure, you can failover your VMs to a DR host. Should help with testing with testing failover:

There are options to automate failover using powershell: https://sysadminguides.org/2017/06/12/powershell-script-automate-vm-failover-on-hyper-v-replicated-hosts-domain-workgroup/

As another option, you can build Failover Cluster on 2 or more hosts, which will allow for your VMs to easily migrate between hosts and automatically failover them in case of host failures.
