Cannot Install Microsoft.Net.4.8.FullRedist.20H2

I have been trying to install Visual Studio 2022, but cannot due to an error with installing Microsoft.Net.4.8.FullRedist.20H2. I have attempted to install it separately via the .Net offline installer, but it says "Invalid Access To Memory Location" error code 0x000003E6.

Nothing I see online seems to work.

That sounds frustrating! Have you tried running the installer as an administrator or disabling your antivirus temporarily? Sometimes those can cause issues with .NET installations.

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A!

Please try the following:

Check for Windows update and ensure that you have admin permission to install VS.
If you have any anti-virus software or group policy, please temporarily disable them.
Go to the folder: %programdata%\Microsoft\VisualStudio\Packages\Microsoft.Net.4.8.FullRedist.20H2, version=xxxx and manually run the .exe file. then, go to the Visual Studio Installer and repair/retry the installation.
Remove the folder: %programdata%\Microsoft\VisualStudio\Packages\Microsoft.Net.4.8.FullRedist.20H2,version=xxxx and repair the VS installation.

If it doesn’t work, please click on the 'view Logs' in the error message and share us the relevant installation logs for further check.

I tried it, no dice. Here is the log for trying to install directly from the folder:

Whatever the issue is, it prevents me from updating many things related to windows, there are old updates that never installed and even now I can't update to Windows 11 or attempt to repair Windows 10 without there being an error and the changes reverted.
