Log Analytics Workspace Table Stuck in ProvisioningState = Updating

Question

We performed an ARM deployment to our Log Analytics Workspace where we have a custom table defined.

The deployment contained no schema change for the table.

However, the deployment failed:

• Error codeGatewayTimeout
• MessageThe gateway did not receive a response from 'Microsoft.OperationalInsights' within the specified time period.

Now, subsequent deployments fail because the custom table is ProvisioningState = Updating.

We can't delete the table (which is empty in our test subscription and OK to delete) either.

This seems to automatically resolve itself after ~1 week or so.
