Hi Team,

I have configured a 5 nodes Hyper-v cluster with failover cluster for high VM availability.

I have created 4 virtual adapters (Heartbeat, live_migration, Storage1 and Storage2) all them connected to a hyper-V SET Switch.

the 4 virtual adapters connect to the SET Switch, and the SET switch connect via two physical 10Gb port to external physical switch.

Virtual Adapters Storage1 and Storage2 connect to external storage.

External storage an external switch is configured for jumbo frames.

When I enable jumbo frames in Storage1 and storage2 in the way I show below, the whole cluster hung.

Please, any help.

thanks

Jose Miguel

    Hi Garcia,

Thanks for your post. It is recommended to apply the NIC driver upgrade and see where you're at before troubleshooting further. Those HP NICs were known to be buggy in certain Hyper-V situations.

Also keep an eye on the VMQ settings after the NIC upgrade. Many vendors re-enable the setting when a new driver is installed.

Also, Dedicated switches from Hosts to SAN using iSCSI – enable jumbo frames up to 4500 on mid-grade switches, higher on top-grade switches, depending on backplane speed, for the iSCSI network only. Yes, enable the same size on the virtual switches and virtual NICs, otherwise there is no point to enabling it at all really.

    Best Regards,

    Ian Xue
