How to import a very old .pps file, with its slides and music, into a new *.pptx file in an updated Office Mac v16.90.1 in macOS Ventura v13.7?

I'm trying to help my client with this. We tried to insert from it, but it loses the original background music, images, etc. If it can't be imported, then is there a way to have the newer slide tell PowerPoint to open this very old .pps slide to show its slides and music, and then resume where it left off?

This file format is too old and some functions may not be compatible with current version of PowerPoint.

Have you tried using a Windows machine to convert this old .pps file to .pptx file via using Save As feature or Convert feature?

If background music, images, etc. still be lost, you may extract files or objects from this PowerPoint file, and insert these objects back.

No, sorry. That's true of PPTX/PPSX/PPTM files, but NOT the older PPT/PPS format.

More likely with those versions of PowerPoint files, the music is linked, meaning that IF you have the original music files, you can insert them into the new PPTX. If you don't have them, you're out of luck, I'm afraid. The same is true of any other linked content (images, charts, etc).
