Unreliable Results When Indexing SharePoint Document Libraries in Azure AI Search Preview

We indexed the contents of a SharePoint document library in Azure AI Search following the instructions provided here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/search/search-howto-index-sharepoint-online#limitations-and-considerations.

During testing, we noticed that the results were unreliable when using a SharePoint document library as a data source compared to using Azure Storage:

SharePoint as a data source:User's image

Azure Storage as a data source:User's image

Note that both the SharePoint document library and the Azure container contain the same documents.

Since indexing data from SharePoint document libraries is currently in preview, could you let us know when the preview is expected to end and when a stable version will be released?

@Irene Gunning We do not have an ETA that we can share with you at this time regarding when the SharePoint functionality will become Generally Available (GA).

Microsoft has two main releases each year, //Build in May and Ignite in November. Since Ignite just happened, the next most likely window for updates would be //Build in May. Note that features can also be released outside of these two windows. Lastly, there is no timeline I can share publicly at the moment and development could very well extend past //Build in May, meaning GA might not come until sometime after.

We do invite you to share your feedback with the product group here: https://feedback.azure.com/d365community/forum/9325d19e-0225-ec11-b6e6-000d3a4f07b8

And you can follow along for release updates within Azure Search here: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/category/ai/blog/azure-ai-services-blog
