This occurs when I start Amazon Kindle. This msg appears as soon as Kindle starts up and the program won't do anything after this appears. Kindle requires msedgeview2 operability in order to function at all so the browser failure is critical.

Kindle has its own version of msedgewebview2 which it distributes and runs from a subdirectory under the Kindle directory, which one can see from the msg text. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling Kindle several times to no avail. I've also tried copying the latest EdgeWebView directory from \ProgramFiles(x86)\Microsoft over to the Kindle directory to see if that would help, but it doesn't.

I have Windows 10 and it's up to date as of 11/30/24. Kindle was working a few weeks ago and no new versions or updates were installed to it between that time and when it failed. However, I am sure Windows 10 was updated in that time period. But again, Kindle has its own version of the browser so unless a registry entry or some similar thing was changed somehow, I don't see a reason why a Windows update would affect it.

Does anyone know what this msg means? What entry is missing? Can I replace it somehow? Is there any more explanatory Windows or MSedgeview2 documentation for this message?

    Hi @Otis Sito's Palindrome ,

The Kindle Application may be using a fixed version of msedgewebview2.exe for distribution so copying from other directory won't work.

From another point, I haven't found any known issues of WebView2 being affected by recent Windows Update.

Anyway, I suggest contacting the Kindle support for more information as they distributed that particular version of WebView2. They may have done some customization in their code so we're not able to figure out what happened behind this error message. Thank you for your understanding.
