Dynamic distribution list does not work after organizational unit change

Hello,

We recently changed the organizational units of all members of our organization, and since then we have 2 dynamic distribution lists which do not work any more.

When an email is sent to either of the lists, the sender does not receive an error message but the mail is not delivered.

Membership of the 2 lists is based on the Department attribute, which has not been changed in the migration. When we query the list members with Exchange Management Shell, the correct set of members is returned. When we move a member to his former OU, he receives correctly an email sent to the list.

We are running Exchange 2016 on premise.

We have already spent several hours researching the issue, but have not found anything similar.

Does anybody see how to move forward?

Thank you in advance for the support!

Damien

    Hi,@Damien

Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

When you change OUs, users who belong to other OUs do not receive emails sent to the Dynamic Communications group. This is expected behavior.

To fix this issue, specify the correct parameter when you create the Dynamic Distribution Group.RecipientContainer

You can refer to this link for details:https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/troubleshoot/mailflow/emails-not-delivered-dynamic-distribution-group?source=recommendations

Check the value of the RecipientContainer property of the DDG, as by default it is set to the OU in which it was created: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/module/exchange/new-dynamicdistributiongroup?view=exchange-ps#-organizationalunit
