Azure Site Recovery Appliance Fails to Register with Recovery Services Vault

We are currently implementing Azure Site Recovery (ASR) to enable disaster recovery for our VMware environment on premise. We decided to use the OVF-based replication appliance and have successfully deployed the OVF template on VMware. We have completed the following steps in the appliance setup wizard:

1.	Set up prerequisites.

2.	Updated appliance components.

3.	Configured replication appliance connectivity (using FQDN/NAT IP).

However, we are stuck at the step. When attempting to register the replication appliance with our Azure Recovery Services vault, we encounter the following error:

User's image

`Failed to register resource providers with Azure Site Recovery.`

Details:

Either the proxy details provided are incorrect or the proxy server/firewall is blocking your request to access required URLs.

Ensure that the following URLs are allowed through your proxy server/firewall:

Recommendation:

Re-try the operation after some time. If the issue persists, please contact Microsoft Support.

How can we resolve this issue and successfully register the replication appliance with the Recovery Services vault? Are there additional network configurations or debugging steps we should try?

Thank you in advance for your help!

    Hi @Leke

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A Platform! Thank you for asking your question here.

That you are having trouble registering your replication device with the Azure Recovery Services vault. The problem appears to be related to network connectivity, possibly due to proxy or firewall settings.

To fix that, I recommend checking the proxy settings on the device first. If you use a proxy server to connect to the Internet, make sure that the device is configured to use the correct proxy information. If the proxy is not configured incorrectly, it can block a connection to Azure. Next, it’s a good idea to check your firewall configuration. Your firewall may be blocking the device from connecting to Azure. Verify that the following URLs are allowed through the firewall:

    https://management.azure.com/

    https://graph.microsoft.com/

It can temporarily disable the firewall to see if it is causing any problems. If the registry is disabled with the firewall disabled, you will need to make configuration changes to access those URLs.

Also, make sure the appliance can connect to the internet and Azure by running some simple connectivity tests, like pinging Azure or using telnet to check if the appliance can reach the required URLs.

That the appliance has the correct DNS settings so that it can properly resolve Azure domain names. After checking and updating the settings, try to register the device again.
