I am setting up front door service for an external domain in order to connect it to a WAF in Azure. When setting it up I chose Origin Type: Custom, and Origin Hostname as the first domain that I was looking to use to connect to front door. When i go into the front door service in Azure and then go to settings and domains, i do not see this domain? Did i set this up wrong? do i need to set up the domain after setting up the front door service in settings->domains? And once this is completed, what dns settings do i need to setup in my dns register to connect the front door service?

    Hi Alan Barnes ,

Thank you for reaching out on Microsoft Q&A.

Your domain won’t appear in Front Door > Domains automatically. You need to add it manually.

    • Add Domain → Go to Settings > Domains, add your domain, and verify with a TXT record.
    • Update DNS → Create a CNAME pointing to yourfrontdoor.azurefd.net. Use alias records for root domains.
    • Configure WAF & Routing → Attach WAF policy and set up routing.
    • Enable HTTPS → Use Azure-managed TLS or your own certificate.
