I refer to the exchange titled Connecting with my other computers on my Ethernet network of a few weeks ago. All seemed to work as advertised but when I tried to contact a

the another PC's Desktop during Loading I got a timeout: ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT.

Any ideas?

    Hello,

This issue may be caused by network configuration issues, firewall settings, etc. You can refer to the following steps to troubleshoot:

    1. First, make sure that both PCs are on the same network and can communicate with each other. You can try to ping the target PC by opening a command prompt on the source PC and entering [IP address of the target PC]

If ping fails, there is a network connection problem.

    1. On both PCs, make sure network discovery and file sharing are enabled:

Open Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Advanced Sharing Settings.

Under the Private* network profile, turn on Network discovery and File and Printer Sharing.

    1. Open Control Panel > Windows Defender Firewall > Allow an app or feature through Windows Defender Firewall. Make sure File and Printer Sharing for Private and Public Networks is checked.

    Best Regards

    1. I did "ping NEW" and that computer replied three times TTL 128

So that seems ok. "NEW" is the target computer name. (It is all on the only network I have anyway.

    1. all checked and set.
    2. Windows says this is controlled by Bit Defender. Bit Defender says "inbound connections that do not match a rule are blocked" but it is not obvious how to change/create such a rule a rule. Should I take this issue to Bit Defender support?

    Thankyou,

    peter

    Hi Peter,

Thank you for your reply, you can actually try to disable the firewall first to troubleshoot whether this problem is caused.
