Local Ethernet private network. Been on the web and turned on everything suggested. Laptop can see and pull files from PC, but not vice versa. Tryna set up FreeFileSync. Can't see the laptop from the PC File Explorer or FFS.

SEEMS like it was working a day or two ago, but today, nada.

Anywhere else I can look or anything to try?

    Hello,

Based on the information you provided, I suggest you try the following operations to see if the problem can be solved:

Turn on the sharing service to start automatically. This problem usually occurs when one of the services is not working properly.

Press the Windows logo key + R.

In the Run dialog box, type "services.msc" and then select OK.

Right-click each of the following services, select Properties, and if the service is not running, select the Start menu, and then select Automatic next to Startup Type:

    Function Discovery Provider Host

    Publishing Feature Discovery Resources

    SSDP Discovery

    UPnP Device Host

    Best Regards

Function Discovery Provider Host- Set to Automatic, not running. Started it. Same thing on BOTH computers.

    SSDP Discovery- Automatic, running.

    UPnP Device Host- Automatic, running.

Publishing Feature Discovery Resources- Not in my list of services. Couldn't find it.

After starting all those services, PC still can't see laptop. PC sees most of the other devices on the network: Printers, scanners, other miscellaneous crap on the network.

Laptop still can see desktop. PC can PING laptop and vice versa.

    Found this in Ethernet settings:

Should I turn on IEEE 802.1X? How do I find the name of MY trusted server?

    Getting kinda frustrating.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

Thanks for your reply, I suggest you go to Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center > Advanced Sharing Settings)

    1. Enable network discovery for your private or public network on each computer you want to share.
    2. Turn on file and printer sharing for your private or public network on each computer you want to share.

    Best Regards

    Zunhui
