Hi Microsoft Teams Support,

I’ve encountered an issue where searching for a keyword from an old chat and clicking on the search result does not redirect to the correct chat message. Instead, it always redirects me to the Communities page.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Open Microsoft Teams.
  2. Use the search bar to look for a keyword from an old chat.
  3. Click on the search result expecting to navigate to the specific chat message.
  4. Instead of opening the old chat, it redirects to the Communities page.

Questions:

  • Is this a known issue or a bug in Microsoft Teams?
  • Are there any settings, policies, or configurations that might be causing this behavior?
  • Is there a workaround or a fix available?

    Hi @Trang Tran

Does the same problem occur in the Teams web client?

If the problem only occurs in the Teams desktop client, try updating Teams to the latest version or clear the Teams desktop cache:

    Hi @Trang Tran

The reason why "Navigate to chat window" does not appear is that your message is posted in the Community. If the keyword appears in your chat, you can choose to navigate to the chat page.

I did a test in the Teams work account for your reference:

1.The keyword appears in the team channel message (similar to Community in the free version of Teams), and there is no option to navigate to the chat window in the upper right corner.

2.The keyword appears in personal chats (and group chats), and an option to navigate to the chat window appears in the upper right corner.
