Is it possible to use Azure's RHUI repositories to patch on-premises RHEL servers using Azure Arc? Currently, Red Hat Satellite is employed for patching, and RHUI is in use for Azure servers. As plans are being made to replace Satellite, clarification on this matter is needed. Various sources provide conflicting information, so any insights would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Alarie, Maxime

No, RHUI cannot be used for on-premises RHEL servers, even if they are connected via Azure Arc. RHUI is exclusively for Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG) virtual machines running within Azure and is not accessible or licensed for on-premises or non-Azure environments.

Azure Arc facilitates the management and governance of on-premises servers, but it does not extend access to Azure-specific services like RHUI for these servers. On-premises servers will need to use traditional methods like Red Hat Subscription Management (RHSM) or other patch management solutions to obtain updates.
