According to the following blog,

I think Microsoft has announced that Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) will be discontinued in the future, is my understanding correct?

If it is correct, let me know when you plan to discontinue it.

By the way, does this affect the use of the WSUSSCN2.CAB file?

    https://www.ajtek.ca/wsus/microsoft-deprecates-wsus-what-does-this-mean-here-is-what-you-need-to-know/

Just remember, WSUS was INCLUDED in the Server 2025 release and Server 2025 has a 5 year Mainstream Support lifecycle and then a 5 year Security lifecycle for a total of 10 years of support.

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/lifecycle/products/windows-server-2025

Microsoft needs to support WSUS through the life of Server 2025 which means at LEAST until Oct 10, 2034

Short answer, WSUS is NOT going away anytime soon.

    Hello,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Q&A.

Based on the description, I understand your question is related to when Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) scheduled to be discontinued.

Microsoft has announced deprecation of Windows Server Update Services (WSUS). Specifically, this means that we are no longer investing in new capabilities, nor are we accepting new feature requests for WSUS. However, we are preserving current functionality and will continue to publish updates through the WSUS channel. We will also support any content already published through the WSUS channel.

Regarding the WSUSSCN2.CAB file, the deprecation of WSUS does not directly impact its use. The WSUSSCN2.CAB file is used for offline scanning of updates and will continue to be available for this purpose. However, it's important to stay updated with any changes Microsoft might announce in the future regarding the availability and support of this file.

    Have a nice day.

    Best Regards,

    Molly
