Windows is being stuck at 48% Installation after resetting using Provisioning Package

We are using a provisioning package to enroll devices in our tenant (Azure AD and Intune). The provisioning package contains a few default applications like 7-Zip, Chrome, LogMeIn, and Cisco AnyConnect, with an option enabled to uninstall any previously installed third-party applications.

When the option to uninstall third-party applications is enabled, the process resets Windows and reinstalls it. However, we’ve noticed that after the reset, the installation often gets stuck at 48% and remains halted for 1 to 2 hours or more before completing. Typically, the installation process should only take 10 to 15 minutes.

This behavior has been observed on both physical devices and virtual machines.

Do you have any insights into what could be causing this issue? Additionally, how can we trace logs to diagnose and resolve the problem?

    Hello,

    Check Setup Logs:

Setupact.log and Setuperr.log: These logs contain detailed information about the setup process and any errors encountered. They are located in the %WINDIR%\Panther directory.

Event Viewer: Use the Event Viewer to check for any errors or warnings during the installation process. Navigate to Windows Logs > System and look for entries related to setup.

    Update Drivers and BIOS:

Ensure all device drivers and the BIOS are up to date. Outdated drivers can cause compatibility issues during installation.

    Disconnect Unnecessary Peripherals:

Disconnect any non-essential peripherals (e.g., external drives, printers) during the installation process to avoid conflicts.

    Perform a Clean Boot:

Perform a clean boot to eliminate software conflicts. This can help identify if a third-party application is causing the issue.

    Check Network Connectivity:

Ensure that the device has a stable network connection if the installation requires downloading updates.

    Have a nice day.

    Best Regards,

    Hania Lian
