Hello Azliza Bahari,
To access Azure OpenAI Services in India, customers must have an active Azure subscription such as Pay-As-You-Go, CSP, EA, or MCA. While most Azure customers are eligible to use Azure OpenAI models without submitting a registration form, access to modify content filters or abuse monitoring settings does require additional approval and eligibility verification.
Azure OpenAI is a gated service, meaning access is not automatically granted with a subscription. Customers must submit an access request via the official form at aka.ms/oai/access. This form requires details such as the intended use case, expected usage volume, and the preferred region (e.g., South India, Central India, or others if applicable).
Currently, Azure OpenAI is generally available in South India and Central India, and certain preview models (like GPT-4o) may be accessible via the Global region, provided it aligns with the organization’s governance and compliance policies.
Customers with data residency or compliance requirements especially in regulated industries should avoid using Global SKUs for sensitive workloads and ensure that deployments meet their data governance standards.
Once approved, customers can deploy models such as GPT-3.5-Turbo, GPT-4, and GPT-4o. Quotas will vary depending on the subscription type, and higher limits can be requested through the Azure portal.
I Hope this helps. Do let me know if you have any further queries.
