hi,

I am looking for some help deciphering some dmp files. I have a gaming PC that crashes randomly and seems to be getting worse. More often than not games are crashing without

I have done all the usual stuff with drivers, firmware (BIOS), reinstalled Windows multiple times so believe it is a hardware issue. If anyone is able to help figure out which component it is I would be immensely grateful.

thanks

Motherboard: MAG B760 TOMAHAWK WIFI (MS-7D96)

Processor: 13th Gen Intel Core i7-13700F (24 CPUs), ~2.1GHz

Memory: 32GB RAM (Corsair Vengeance LPX 5200 C40 2x16GB)

Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti (MSI) (drivers 576.52 - latest at time of writing)

storage: 931GB KINGSTON SNV2S1000G )

    Hello, Steven

Here are some ideas and thoughts that I would like to share and discuss with you.

    • Generally, when the system detects an error in a key process or service, it may trigger a BSOD and cause the system to crash.

    • Usually, an error with the ID 1001 will be generated in windows in the event log.

    • Clicking on this detailed information will display the bugcheck code and related parameters, as well as a save path for the.dMP file, etc.

    • You can refer to the following link: Corresponding to your bugcheck code, find the relevant troubleshooting measures.

    •[https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/drivers/debugger/bug-check-code-reference2](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/drivers/debugger/bug-check-code-reference2)

Generally speaking, the.dmp file requires the windbg tool for debugging. This requires loading some private plugins for debugging. For detailed information, a case can be set up in the support team.

I hope the above information is helpful to you.

    Regards,

    Allison

Hello, I’m Henry, and I’d like to share my insights on this issue.

I attempted to open the dump file but was unable to access it. While I can't analyze the files directly, I can guide you on what to look for based on your description of random in-game crashes. The issue likely stems from one of three hardware components failing under load.

The most common cause of random in-game crashes—especially those that don't result in a full Blue Screen of Death (BSOD)—is RAM instability. Your Corsair Vengeance RAM is running at 5200 MT/s, which strongly suggests you’re using an XMP (Extreme Memory Profile) in your BIOS. These profiles, while designed for performance, are technically overclocked and not guaranteed to be stable across all motherboard/CPU configurations.

I recommend running a memory diagnostic to check for instability:

    1. Open the Windows Memory Diagnostic tool (search for "Windows Memory Diagnostic" in the Start menu).
    2. Select Restart now and check for problems.
    3. If errors appear, consider adjusting your RAM settings in the BIOS or running at a lower speed.

Your Gigabyte P750GM PSU has a known history of issues, particularly with transient power spikes when paired with high-end GPUs like the RTX 4070 Ti. When the GPU suddenly demands a high power draw, an unstable PSU may fail to deliver consistent voltage, leading to crashes—either in the graphics driver or the entire system.

I hope this provides insights for troubleshooting your issue.
