I am using a dell inspiron 15 3520, and when i connect my earpiece (which has a mic) to the laptop, any of the 2 could happen (or both)

1- The audio doesnt work, i click the test button in sound settings and i see it moving, but no audio plays. The audio does play if i unplug my earpiece

2- The mic doesnt work, i click the test button in sound settings and the playback is just a long continuous beep sound. The inbuilt laptop mic does work even when this is happening.

The only way ive managed to fix this is by restarting my laptop, which appears to randomly pick between either having the audio issue, mic issue, both or none. Ive tried buying new earpieces but it does not solve the issue, so i think it is an issue with the laptop. It is very frustrating to restart my laptop often multiple times to fix this. Anyone has any idea on how to solve this permanently?

    Uninstall and reinstall Audio driver via Device Manager.

    Open Device Manager > Sound, video and game controllers > Right-click Realtek Audio → Uninstall device → "Delete the driver software for this device" → OK.

    Reboot.

    Download and install the audio driver from the support site of DELL which will be compatible with the OS and the system.

    ======

    Settings > System > Sound.

    Click “More sound settings” (under Advanced).

    Headphones → Properties → Enhancements tab > Disable all enhancements
