A KB has been crəated for the 0x80004002 error code that appears when you try to install updates by using the Windows Update or Microsoft Update Web site, you may receive the following error message.

0x80004002

The KB includes an automated Microsoft Fix it 50687 that corrects the issue.

Look at the following KB: <<http://support.microsoft.com/kb/956708>>

Suggest you download and save the Fix it.

Then close all open programs and browsers prior to running MS Fix it 50687.msi.

Make sure "all" non-essəntial devices are unplugged. ( USB keys or any external media as this takes place.).

Please let us know if this did or didn't help to resolve your problem.

This so-called "fix" was no help. I have been trying to fix error code 80004002, obviously many others have this problem as well, however I have yet to find any even remotely useful information to solve this problem. As is typical with Microsoft, none of their 'support' is any help at all.
