Reorder of Team workspaces in Microsoft Teams does not "stick" in Mac OS

When I manually re-order my list of Teams in Microsoft Teams for Mac OS (Catalina), after "a while" the new manual order reverts to something different. It happens in a lot of different ways: if I reorder a lot of Teams, it happens quickly and changes to something that is almost (but not quite) the original order. If I change just ONE Team, it seems to stick longer...but if I change more Teams around after a few hours, the reversion comes back on the whole list. In short, on the Mac OS, reordering of Teams doesn't stick. I have tried quitting, signing out of the tenant, and doing it in a Windows client. In general, Windows works - but the next time I launch the Mac OS Teams desktop applications it all goes to heck in a hand basket again.

Not sure if this is just a flat-out bug, or if there's some technique that can be used to get the Mac app to stop messing with the custom order?

As a cautionary tale I did as directed, but upon relaunching Teams, I ran into the dreaded "Teams App is Stuck on 'Loading' on Mac" bug. Gah! Spent hours last night removing files, deleting/reinstalling apps, signing out of everything. Nothing helped. This morning I took another run at it, and found the thread below - buried in there is a trick to both remove all keychain items (and support files) and then LOG IN AS A DIFFERENT USER - after which you sign out and sign in again as yourself. That finally worked. If anyone else comes across this, delete the files in Application Support with caution, as something gets badly whacked related to identity tokens and such, and you may not be able to access Teams again without major surgery.

On the bright side, it honors the Teams order now :-)

    Hi @Chris Gibson ,

Do you mean you cannot change the order of Team list in Microsoft Teams client on Mac?

To exclude the client issue, we firstly recommend you try to login Teams web client to see if it can be fixed. If there is no issue in the web client, the issue may related

to the client itself. In this case, you could log out Teams and clear Teams client cache file by following these tips:

1.Open Finder, then click Go and select Go to Folder…

2.Copy and paste the following into the Go to Folder box, then click Go:

    ~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft

3.Right click the Teams folder, then click Move to Trash

    4.Restart Teams.

If the above suggestion is not helpful, I have some questions to confirm with you:

1)Does anyone else have the same issue in your organization?

2)What is your Teams client version? Is it the newest one?

Thanks for the reply @JimmyYang-MSFT - in answer to your question, I have zero problems on the Mac Teams desktop app (v 1.4.00.8872 - updated 4/27/21) to reorder the list of teams. BUT...wait a few minutes, and the list has reverted back to almost its original order. The web and mobile versions of Teams reflect the correct order while its displayed in the Mac Teams app - but when it reverts in the Mac Teams app, the web and mobile versions then reflect that. It leads me to believe the Mac client is doing the deed and messing things up.

I tried using a Windows Teams desktop app, and it has no problem letting me reorder the list of teams, and it seems to "stick" just fine...until I open the Mac desktop app. The Mac desktop app at first shows the same list that exists in the Windows app, but after "a while" (not a hard number of minutes or hours) the Mac app then reverts the order of the teams back to what it was before the Windows app was used to change things, after which it reflects that way in ALL the apps: Windows, Mac, mobile and web.

I will try the cache clearing technique and see if I can get things to stick after that. Thanks for that suggestion. I will report back on the results.
