Windows Driver Foundation is missing + missing wudfsvc.dll

Hello! I have been having issues with crashes and my monitor freezing etc. I'm not entirely sure if this is the reason behind the crashes but I've been consistently getting this error code for the past few months, usually alongside the crashes, so I figured that I may as well look into it.

The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load.

Device: HID\VID_046D&PID_0942&MI_04&Col04\8&3178f375&0&0003

Status: 0xC0000365

I read that to fix this error, I needed to change a setting in the Windows Driver Foundation in Services, but strangely this service is COMPLETELY MISSING. It is simply not in the Services application. I was told to check for wudfsvc.dll in System32 but that is missing too. In order to remedy this, I read a Microsoft post on here suggesting to type "regsvr32 /u wudfsvc.dll" and "regsvr32 /i wudfsvc.dll" in cmd to reinstall wudfsvc.dll but doing either of these steps comes up with an error code titled RegSvr32 reading:

"The module "wudfsvc.dll" failed to load.

Make sure the binary is stored at the specified path or debug it to check for problems with the binary or dependent .DLL files. The specified module could not be found."

So unfortunately reinstalling it through that medium is not possible. I cannot find any other resources on this issue that get past this error code so I'd really appreciate any help :D !!

    Hi again,

Thanks for the news. Since copying wudfsvc.dll by hand didn't bring back the missing Windows Driver Foundation service and registration failed, an in-place upgrade repair is now the safest and cleanest way to fix the problem. This will fix all missing or damaged system files, including services like WudfSvc, without deleting your files or apps.

Last Fix: Repairing an Upgrade in Place

    >> Check out the Microsoft website to learn more about Windows 10 and Windows 11.

    Link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-downlo...

    Link- https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-downlo...

    >> Just click "Download tool now" and run it. -

    >> Choose "Always improve this PC now."

    >> Pick "Keep personal files and apps" when asked.

Wait for the repair to finish, then turn your PC back on.

    >>

After the repair, open Services and make sure:

    • The User-mode Driver Framework for Windows Driver Foundation is now on the list.
    • If you need to, run the command regsvr32 wudfsvc.dll again as an administrator to register the DLL.

Optional. update the drivers for your Logitech devices if you want to.

    • Open Device Manager.
    • Under "Human Interface Devices," find your Logitech device.
    • Click "Update Driver" and then "Search automatically."

Logitech's support site also has the most up-to-date drivers that you can get.

Please let me know when that's done or if you have any problems. This fix has worked in similar situations before, and it should fix the crash and service problem for good.

Hope you are having a nice day.

    Best,

    Pau

Hi, I'm Pau, and I'm an Independent Advisor. I know how frustrating it is to have to deal with these. I'm here to help.

The error (\Driver\WUDFRd failed to load and missing wudfsvc.dll) shows that a system file and service are either missing or broken. The good news is that this can be fixed. The steps below cover all possible solutions and are meant to get the problem solved at the first contact.

Step 1: Fix system files that are missing or broken.

Start up the Command Prompt as an administrator.

Click on sfc /scannow > Press "Enter"

    Type: DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth > when you're done. Press "Enter"

    Start up your computer again.

Step 2: Use the Registry to bring back the missing WUDF service.

To use regedit, go to Start > Press "Enter"

Visit > It is located in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WudfSvc.

Press and hold Start twice. Change the number to 2 > Click "OK."

    Start up your computer again.

Step 3: Restore wudfsvc.dll by hand

You can use a second PC with the same version of Windows to check.

    Go to > C:\Windows\System32 > Make a copy of wudfsvc.dll

Paste it into the same folder on the PC that is having trouble.

    Start up your computer again.

Step 4: Sign up the DLL

Go to the command prompt as an administrator and type: regsvr32 wudfsvc.dll. Then press the enter key.

Step 5: If the problem still exists, do an in-place upgrade repair.

Visit https://www.microsoft.com/software-download/win... to get Windows 10.

Click Here to Get the Tool > Use the tool > Choose "Upgrade this PC now."

To fix it, follow the steps given.

Step 6: Get the latest driver for the Logitech HID device.

    Start up Device Manager

Find your Logitech device (based on VID_046D&PID_0942)

Right-click and choose "Update driver." Choose to have drivers found automatically. You can also get the latest driver from Logitech's website.

Please try the steps above, and let me know if any of them are hard for you. I'm happy to help you more.

    Many thanks,

    Pau
