Will there be an option to select .net framework 4.8 version from azure app service portal(Appservice --> Configuration --> General settings--> .NET framework)?

Hello,

Could you please let me know, can we see an option in the dropdown list of .NET Framework version to select the V4.8 as well from azure app service portal once the update completed? i.e. after sept 2020? Please check the attached screenshot below, any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

It would be much easier if we know the more specific window for the upgarde

The platform is currently being updated to use .NET Framework 4.8.
The update will begin on July 14, 2020, and your apps will be automatically updated by September 15, 2020.

There is no action needed from your end to manually change it to .Net Framework v4.8

could you please confirm that once updates are completed region by region, can we see an option in the drop-down list of .NET Framework version to select the V4.8 as well from azure portal after September 2020?

As informed already, the default option would be 4.8 after the upgrade. You dont have to select 4.8 again from the dropdown manually.

@KalyanChanumolu-MSFT thanks again for your swift response. So does it mean from the drop down list 4.7 will be removed as an option and only 3.5 and 4.8 will be available to select as an options? This doubt came in to my mind because 4.5 and above framework are backward compatible. So please do let me know if all the 3 option will be available or not.

Any reason why you would still want to use 4.7 in the dropdown when this is an in-place, non breaking, backward compatible upgrade?
4.7 should be removed from the dropdown and replaced with 4.8 without any changes to 3.5

Please monitor this announcement for updates on the rollout.

+1 to Kaylans response. 4.8 will become the updated choice, however it will not stop you from specifically targeting your applications to an earlier version as that's handled as part of the framework if you choose to do so.

The rollout is a complex process and i doubt if it will be possible to notify each customer individually when their workloads would be upgraded.
This would be a great feature to have down the line but as on today, it is not available.

Your app will be upgraded before September 15, 2020.
