Hello,

When we have installed the client- O365/Office 2016 with exchange 2013, we are getting continuous password prompts. This scenario happens for connectivity from internet.
We tried the below registry key settings, but the issue is persistent.

  1. Close Outlook.
  2. Take a backup of registry
  3. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\AutoDiscover (add AutoDiscover key if not present). Add the below DWORD values:
    PreferLocalXML 0
    ExcludeHttpRedirect 0
    ExcludeHttpsAutodiscoverDomain 1
    ExcludeHttpsRootDomain 1
    ExcludeScpLookup 1
    ExcludeSrvRecord 1
  4. You may also need to add the same DWORD values to the following registry path: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\AutoDiscover
  5. Re-launch outlook and observe the behavior.
  6. Revert changes if any issues with Outlook connectivity

Any others thoughts will be greatly appreciated

Cheers
Priya

    @Priya Jayaraman

Did you get the Office 365 password prompt or the Exchange on-premises prompt?

If you get the Exchange on-premises prompt, this phenomenon may related with the Outlook Anywhere or MAPI protocol for your Exchange server. Make sure you have configure them correctly.

If you get the Office 365 password prompt. If you are have a hybrid lab, you could have a check about this KB: Outlook prompts for credentials for on premise users with Office 365 client. If you don't have a hybrid lab, try to update Outlook to the lasted version and try again.
