Count of distinct names in pivot table

Question

In a pivot table, how do you count the number of times a name appears in a single field? Simple count adds the number of times the field is not blank. How do you get it to count or sum the recurrence of that name?  I need something like Count If not the same, but I can't find that option.

When you create the pivot table, tick the check box 'Add this data to the Data Model'.

After adding a field to the Values area, right-click it and select Value Field Settings... from the context menu.

Distinct Count is now an entry in the list of ways to summarize the data.
