Creating a panel chart

I'm trying to create a panel chart using the PivotChart functions, but I have not been able to find any way to edit how line charts appear. I have two categories: let's say A, B, C and then counts of A, B, and C over 6 different years (let's say 2010 - 2015), for a series that has 8 fixed values (let's say blue, yellow, orange, red, purple, green, gold, brown).

I'd like there to be one set of 8 lines for each of A, B, and C appearing side-by-side, but the line chart option automatically connects the markers so that it looks like the data for the last year of A continues on directly to the first year of B and so on.

Guides online seem to indicate an extremely onerous set of steps to accomplish this. Is there a way in Excel to create panel charts more quickly? I will be receiving a bunch of data sets, and prefer not to have to go through a long set of steps each time I need to create a new set of charts.

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give.

    Dear TTK_001

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

Excel does not support panel chart in default. You need to follow custom steps to build it. So there is no simple way to create a panel chart in Excel without a third-party add-in or without creating multiple charts first. As for how to achieve this by a third-party add-in, this is beyond the scope of the questions that Microsoft Community can answer. The best way to search for the add-on or plugin you want is through Internet. And I hope you won't mind if I leave this thread open in Microsoft Community in case that one of our volunteers has ideas for you.

If you need this feature in Excel by default in the future, you can make an upvote in Add an option to create a panel chart easily · Community (microsoft.com). Users all over the world will see this upvote, and Microsoft Developer Team will often check the hottest upvotes. So the more people make an upvote on this issue, the more likely that OneNote can be improved.

I understand that this may not be the outcome you are expecting, but thanks for helping improve Excel.

    Best regards
