Migration from Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise to Windows 2016

Good morning,

we plan to migrate to OS Win 2016. Here my doubt arises - if I install Win2016 on a separate machine, move the backed-up cube files and then restore them in Win2016, will such a process work? In other words - are the cube backups compatible between the previously mentioned versions of Windows?
