Dear Thomas,

Thanks for updating! I;m so glad to hear that you have managed to fix the issue. I think your solution can help others who are facing the same situation(I noticed there are users who clicked on "I have the same question" on this thread.), so I made some summary about the scenario:

Symptom: Can't install msi Google Workspace Sync 4.3.53.0 https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gssmo/on Windows 11 64 bits with Microsoft 365 Apps Business 64 bits (last build). Got error message: There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.

Cause: Might be Google Update service issue.

Solution: 1. Uninstalled Google Chrome

- 2. Deleted the folder C:\Windows\Program files x86\Google- 3. Deleted the Windows registry keys HKLM\SOFTWARE\Google- 4. Execute the gsync.msi.

The information can provide much reference to other users in this forum, would you please help vote on this reply, so that others can see the information and get benefit from it. Thanks in advance!

At this point, we highly appreciate your precious time and kind cooperation. Thank you.

Sincerely

    Hello !

    I found the solution :

    • I uninstalled Google Chrome
    • I deleted the folder C:\Windows\Program files x86\Google
    • I deleted the Windows registry keys HKLM\SOFTWARE\Google
    • I execute the gsync.msi and it worked fine !
    • I reinstalled Google Chrome

I think it comes from the Google Update service but I'm not sure.

    Thank you, bye.

    Hello,

Yes I tried running as administrator, without antivirus and without Windows Defender. Do you have any other ideas for diagnosing an execution of an MSI file ?

I am also in contact with Google support.

    Thank you.
