1

Look at the function keys (F1 - F12) on your keyboard, if one of them has a camera icon, press that key or Fn + that key to unlock the webcam.

2

If that was not the problem, look at the camera lens above your screen, is there a small privacy slider that needs to be opened to access the webcam?

3

If the webcam is still not working, go to the support page for your laptop on the manufacturers website, then from there, download and re-install the version of webcam drivers they provide

Hi Ab Razak Chanbasha,

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A!

I'm sorry to hear you're having camera issues with your Lenovo Ideapad Flex 5 14IAU7, as it's not detected even though your built-in camera is physically present. Let's go through some steps to help you resolve this:

1 - Quick and basic checks:

Many Lenovo models have a physical camera shutter, which is often a small switch on the top of the screen. Look for it by scanning closely around the camera lens and running your finger on the edge, then making sure the slider (if available) is open. Access any camera app and see if the camera indicator light is on and/or blinking at all.

2 - Camera privacy settings:

  • Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera
  • Make sure Camera access is turned on
  • Also ensure Let apps access your camera is enabled

3 - Repair camera drivers:

  • Right-click Start logo > Device Manager > right-click anywhere to turn on hidden devices
  • Expand Cameras > right-click your camera > Enable device (if disabled)
  • If it’s missing or has a yellow warning icon:
    • Right-click and choose Scan for hardware changes
    • Or click Update driver > Search automatically for drivers
    • Or click Uninstall device > Restart PC
  • If that fails, visit Lenovo Support and search for your model to download the latest camera driver manually.

Lenovo’s system utility may control camera settings so you should check Lenovo Vantage App, look for camera privacy settings and ensure it’s enabled. However, if none of the above work and the camera is still not detected, it may be a hardware failure, and you should contact Lenovo support for repair options.

Downloading the camera driver from Lenovo website eventually did the job. The camera is back on now. Thank you for your repsonses, appreciate it.
