Dear Friends,
We are struggling to install Exchange 2019 Edge Transport Server Role on a fresh Server 2019 Standard instance which meets physical requirements and have all prerequisites met as per official Exchange 2019 documentation. The server is not a member of the domain and its DNS suffix is set to domain DNS suffix manually. The server is on the same subnet (for now) with the PDC and mailbox server. DNS records are OK and they can resolve each other's names.
I have so far tried both official Microsoft instructions and some other step-by-step guides available on the web; the result is the same:
Performing Microsoft Exchange Server Prerequisite Check
Configuring Prerequisites. COMPLETED
Prerequisite Analysis 1% <<<< and does NOT move beyond
The setup logs shows 3 lines of error messages; all related to that Active Directory server cannot be found:
[ERROR] setup encountered a problem while validating the state of active directory: Active Directory server is not available. Error message: Active directory response: the LDAP server is not available. See the exchange setup log for more information.
[ERROR] Active Directory server is not available. Error message: Active directory response: the LDAP server is not available.
[ERROR] The LDAP server is unavailable.
Deep in the logs; I can also see that it tries to reach AD via ports 50389 and 50636 (for SSL). I have also tried unattended installation with /ADAMLDAPPort: 389 and /ADAMSSLPort: 636 since I can telnet on DC port 389.
The installation medium is fresh downloaded Exchange 2019 CU6 ISO from Microsoft.
Would anyone share insights and experience on why this might happen?
Many thanks in advance...
Best Regards
