I've already made sure it is not marked as hidden, I've restarted with the task manager both windows explorer and the entire computer several times. I cannot run commands as an admin since this is a work computer and I am not an administrator. How can I get the task bar back?

Hello Ivory,

Press the Windows Key + P on your keyboard to bring up the project menu; if the computer is set to "Second screen only" or "Extend," the taskbar may be rendering on a display that doesn't physically exist. Select "PC screen only" to force the shell to render strictly on your primary monitor.

If the projection settings are correct, the issue is likely a corrupted configuration in the StuckRects3 registry key, which stores the taskbar's position and behavior. As a standard user, you typically retain write access to your own user hive. Press Windows Key + R, type regedit, and press Enter. Navigate to the path HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\StuckRects3. Right-click the Settings binary value inside this key and delete it. Once deleted, open Task Manager with Ctrl + Shift + Esc, locate "Windows Explorer" in the processes list, and restart it. This forces Windows to rebuild the taskbar configuration from scratch. If you are blocked from accessing the registry by Group Policy, or if this reset does not resolve the issue, the corruption resides in the system-level ShellExperienceHost dependencies, and you will need to contact your local IT helpdesk to re-image the machine or rebuild your user profile.

I hope you've found something useful here. If it helps you get more insight into the issue, it's appreciated to accept the answer. Should you have more questions, feel free to leave a message. Have a nice day!

    Hello Ivory,

I am following up to see if the display projection adjustment or the registry reset resolved the missing taskbar on your workstation. To recap, ensuring the display output is set strictly to "PC screen only" via the Windows Key + P menu often fixes instances where the shell renders off-screen, while deleting the StuckRects3 value in HKEY_CURRENT_USER forces Windows to rebuild the cached taskbar geometry upon restarting Explorer. Since you do not have administrative privileges to run DISM repairs or reinstall the ShellExperienceHost package via PowerShell, these are the definitive steps available to your user scope. If the taskbar remains invisible after these attempts, the issue confirms a corruption within your user profile that requires your internal IT team to recreate the profile on the domain.

If the issue has been successfully resolved, please consider accepting the answer as it helps other people sharing the same question benefit too. Thank you!
