How to authorize users to manage Hyper-V remotely

Hello,

I've set up a Windows Server 2019 Core machine (IP: 192.168.1.6) at home to use as a home server. I've installed Hyper-V in it and added a user called HyperVAdmin. It's in these user groups: Hyper-V Administrators, Remote Management Users, Power Users. I've also used cmdlet Grant-VMAccess for it.

However, when I try to connect in my desktop's Hyper-V Management Console, using user name HyperVAdmin@192.168.1.6, this error message occurs:

You do not have the required permission to complete the task. Contact the administrator of the authentication policy for computer 'felixServer'. (felixServer is my servers hostname).

Can someone help me please?

Thank you.

    Hi,

You'll need to provide local administrator rights on the Hyper-V host for the users to be able to manage Hyper-V.

    Best regards,
    Leon

    Hello,

To remotely manage a Hyper-V Host the user needs to be a member of both the "Hyper-V Administrators" and the "Remote Management Users" groups.
To use VMConnect with the "Enhanced Session" mode, the user should also be a member of "Remote Desktop Users" group on the Host.

    Regards,

    Jeremy

    Hi,

What is the detailed OS version of the Hyper V manager, and what is the detailed OS version of the remote Hyper V host? Please check if it is the Supported combinations of Hyper-V Manager and Hyper-V host versions.

Does the hyper V host in the same domain, or they are in workgroup?

Please check if you follow the article the configure the remote management:
