I purchased Office Home and accidentally viewed the product key now it says its not valid - how can I install it because when I try it says something went wrong

The message that the product key is not valid means the Office product key has been blocked and will no longer work. It cannot be reused to install or activate Office.

If the key was bought as a separate product key (card, email, or from an online seller), it may have been stolen, fraudulently obtained, or otherwise unauthorized and then blocked.

To proceed:

1. Contact the seller where Office Home was purchased and request a refund, explaining that the key is reported as not valid/blocked.
2. If a refund cannot be obtained and Office is still needed, purchase Office directly from Microsoft or another trusted retailer and then install using the new, valid license.

If instead the error shown is “The product key isn’t valid (INVALID_PRODUCT_KEY or ERR_INVALID_TOKEN)” on Office.com/setup or Microsoft365.com/setup, double-check that:

• The correct 25-character key for Office (not Windows or another product) is being entered.
• There are no typos, especially with similar characters (B/8, G/6, O/0, Q/0, VV/W).
• The key is not a volume license or business key being entered on the wrong page.

If the error is “KEY_NOT_ACTIVATED,” the retailer did not activate the key at the point of sale. In that case, return to the store and have them activate the key.

If, after checking for typos and confirming it is the correct product key, the site still reports the key as not valid or blocked, only the seller can resolve it (refund or replacement); the key itself cannot be fixed or reactivated.
