The taskbar moving to sides was taken off in windows 11, but the task bar fixed does not work well

  • Ït covers icons when accessing the menu menu covered,
  • and even when the taskbar is configured to hide, it does not. I run this with 2 external monitors. Windows has removed the feature that helps a lot when information is displayed on the webpages. The taskbar now hides the bottom of the websites, because hiding the taskbar does not work well when there is more than one monitor, never tested only one. We have to adjust the page so the information can be accessed. This is not a question is basically a complaint

Windows 11 currently does not support moving the taskbar to the sides or top of the screen. Taskbar alignment can only be changed between centered and left, and the taskbar itself remains fixed at the bottom. This is by design and there is no built-in setting to restore the Windows 10 behavior.

To reduce the impact of the taskbar covering content or menus, adjust the available taskbar options:

    1. Open Start > Settings > Personalization > Taskbar.
    2. Under Taskbar items and System tray icons, hide any icons that are not needed to reduce clutter.
    3. Expand Taskbar behaviors and:
      • Use Taskbar alignment to choose Left or Center for icons.
      • Enable Automatically hide the taskbar if not already enabled.
      • Configure Show badges on taskbar apps and Show flashing on taskbar apps as desired.

If the auto‑hide behavior is not working correctly on multi‑monitor setups, or if the current design negatively affects workflows, submit feedback so it can be tracked:

    1. Press Win + F to open Feedback Hub.
    2. Choose the Desktop environment > Taskbar category.
    3. Describe the issues (taskbar not hiding, covering menus/web content, multi‑monitor behavior) and attach screenshots.

Feedback Hub is the supported way to report these problems and request the return of side taskbars or additional taskbar behaviors.
