When I click on "create email" the system does nothing! Why?

In Outlook.com on the web, creating a new email should open a New message pane when selecting New message at the top of the page. If nothing happens when selecting it, the most likely causes are:

1. Browser or page issue
   • Refresh the page (F5 or browser refresh button).
   • Sign out of Outlook.com, close the browser completely, then sign in again.
   • Try another browser (for example, if using Firefox, test in Edge or Chrome) to see if the New message button works there.
   • Open a private/incognito window and sign in to Outlook.com to rule out extensions or cached data.
2. Temporary Outlook.com service issue
   • If the problem started recently and persists across browsers/devices, it may be a transient service issue. Try again after some time.
3. Account-level send issues
   • If the New message pane opens but sending fails, follow the guidance in Outlook.com won't let me send an email (linked from the article below) to check for send restrictions or errors.

Once the New message pane opens successfully, compose and send mail as follows:

1. At the top of the page, select New message.
2. Enter recipients on the To line.
3. Enter a subject on Add a subject.
4. Optionally select Attach to add files.
5. Type the message and select Send.

If the button still does nothing in multiple browsers and devices, contact Outlook.com support or post details (browser, device, screenshots) in the Outlook.com community for further investigation.
